Banks never work this way - they never ask for anything in an e-mail - if they need something - they send you to your account and answer it there.

A Note To The Complete Beginner

After being in business online for over 7 years, I often need a whack
upside the head to remind me that not everyone understands this
online stuff the way that we do. In fact, there are tens of thousands
of people who venture online regularly, exploring ways to make a
little extra money. Some are looking for ways to eventually quit
their jobs and work full-time from home.

Since I have been living that dream-life for so long, it sometimes
takes me a second to answer questions from complete beginners.
I'm talking about people who not only haven't built their first
website, but aren't even sure what type of product or service they
want to sell. They just know that they want to make some extra
money and have heard that the internet is an easy way to do it.

How would you respond to a complete online beginner who comes
to you seeking advice?

Here's what I tell them and why...

First of all, there are a lot of scams, hyped-up promises, and just
plain "ways to lose your money." So you do need to look before
you leap. You can't be too careful!

Secondly, building a business online is just like building a business
offline. You need to decide "what you are going to sell in your store"
before you open the doors. So you need both a plan and a product.
Most people will advise you to build a website around a personal
interest. That way, while the business is slowly "building up steam,"
it will be easier to keep motivated, and it may even be more fun!

The easiest way to get into business online is through what are
called affiliate programs. These are programs where you sign up
and then you earn a referral commission from selling other's products.
Online, these products are very typically books, software, etc...
things that have a low production and delivery cost. Software and
electronic books can be delivered as a file that's downloaded
directly to your customers' computers. So it has very little real
delivery cost. Therefore, the person selling it can afford to pay you
a hefty commission for helping them sell their product.

I generally recommend that beginners join a few affiliate programs
and then begin telling others about them... referring others to the
site. This is also where beginners hit the first snag. Who do they
tell and how?

People like me have a mailing list of well over 100,000, and over
200 active websites. I can tell people about products and services
through my mailing lists. I can tell people about products and
services on my websites, which are found through the search
engines, articles I write, and affiliate referrals. However, the beginner
doesn't have immediate access to these resources.

So how does the beginner attract people to his products or
services? First, you need a website. It is possible to market online
without one, but a website gives you a "home-base." It's a place
that you can center your operation around, refer people to, and
use to branch out.

You DON'T necessarily need to have a website designed for you
since many affiliate programs do offer them for free. You DO need an
affiliate website that you can modify to make it different from all of the
other sites promoting the same product(s) or services as yours. If it's
identical to thousands of others, the major search engines won't
list it.

You also need to build a mailing list. This is a list of people who
have contacted you and given you permission to stay in contact
with them. For many online businesses, people join your list
by subscribing to your online newsletters. You send these
people your regular newsletter, and over time, develop a relationship
with many of them

It's very important that you understand that people buy from
people that they KNOW, LIKE, and TRUST. A newsletter
allows you to share information and resources with your
subscribers, and eventually causes them to feel this way
about you. You have to earn their friendship, trust and admiration.
You do this be doing things to help them succeed. It's that simple.

The easiest way to build a list is to have a signup form on
most pages of your site, and ask people to join your list.
However, they won't join unless you give them a good reason.
Even though your newsletter may be free, you still have to
sell them on the value of joining your list. Your potential
subscribers have so many choices of free ezines, that they
won't sign up JUST because you ask them to. Tell them
the benefits of being on your list.

So... you need a list, a website, products to sell, and some
guidance from people who are actually doing what you want
to do.

I currently have 4 resources I recommend to beginners who
contact me. I honestly believe that these 4 resources give
them the best start... the best probability of building a
successful online business. Those resources are:

1) I recommend that they subscribe to my free 20-lesson
Internet Business Success Course. This is a course that
I put together which contains some of my favorite articles
and resources. It explains a lot of things they will need to
master to succeed in an online business. That course is

2) Next I recommend that they join Affiliate Showcase. At
Affiliate Showcase they can get a free website that, in words
right from the site:

You get this site... that you send people to. When they buy
the products or even get their own Affiliate Showcase site,

Affiliate Showcase has a complete affiliate training program.
You can join in on conference calls several times a week
where you are trained by experienced marketers in how to

3) I also recommend that they join the Internet Marketing
Warriors. The Warriors is an online community with the most
active members-only discussion forum that I am aware of. At
this site, you can actually brainstorm your ideas with other
members and they will give you their honest feedback. The
Warriors range from complete beginners to those earning
millions a year.

I recommend that they get the Warrior Pro Membership.
This membership will cost them $25 per month, but
gives them a number of great benefits including a place
to build their next website. In fact, they get a number
of pre-designed, template websites that they make just
a few edits to and they are all setup to sell some products,
and keep all of the money. For this they do need a way
to process credit card orders, but Paypal is the perfect
solution for that.

Paypal is a service that allows anyone in many countries
to send and receive money via email. You can find out

4) The other thing I recommend for beginners is a Clickbank
Mall. Clickbank is a "third-party credit card processor" that
allows many merchants to set up an affiliate program without
having a merchant account. It also recruits and manages
affiliates for them. Affiliates sign up as Clickbank affiliates and
can then search the Clickbank database for products to sell.

The Clickbank Mall allows anyone to literally link to the entire
Clickbank database. When a visitor to your site searches
for a product using your search box, and they make a
purchase, you earn a commission. It only takes a minute
to set up and you can use it on as many of your websites

The 4 resources mentioned above provide a very good
education and get the new online business person off to a
great start. They don't spend a fortune getting setup and
they start earning money fairly quickly. From this very
solid foundation the newbie is then ready to teach other
beginners how to safely get started.

doing it!

You know the story about the frog. The frog in the skillet
was cooked without his knowledge - the fire was turned up
a little at a time and without his knowledge he was cooked
before he knew it.

Well I know that you are sick of the Janet Jackson mess. I
know I am - but this will shock you coming from me - this
is a good thing.

Our culture has been sliding down the slope at an alarming
pace. Maybe we have reached the saturation point by this
outright "in your face" disrespect.

We are looked at as being the "great satan" in the Middle
East - this will just put fuel on that fire - do you think
they ever see any good sides of the rest of the world. No -
they only want to present the things that prove we are
the "great satan."

This outburst really sent me in a spin and I have been
really seeking what I can do to help paint a different
side to our country. If everyone painted just one glimpse
of the real people that we are - it would blend in to how
wonderful people can be. So this will be my small attempt
to start the paint flowing.

This "in your face" will bring out the true conscious of
our culture - look at the ones that are saying "this is not
a big deal." Do you really want to be identified with this
type of culture. Of course, most of the Hollywood scene says
"no big deal." They have been sitting in the skillet for so
long - they don't even feel the fire - everything is
tolerable to them.

Howard Dean says "this is no big deal" - but of course he
IS a doctor - but the point is missed - it's not the boob - it's
the whole half time show that paints the real picture.

Huge Hefner says "it's no big deal." - Do you want him
reflecting what our culture really should be - an old man
living on Viagra - living with 7 young women - why would he
think "it's no big deal." And on top of that - who really
cares what he thinks. Maybe that's not such a bad image to
reflect to those suicide bombers that blow themselves up for
all the virgins waiting for them in the afterlife - maybe they
can see they don't have to die. (A little sick humor)

The point I am trying to make here is we are painted as a
tolerant nation - how tolerant do we want to be?

Where are our morales?

Why do we have to accept all this junk they are forcing us to
be "politically correct" about?

This is our country - founded on Christian Morales and
Christian principals. - Why are we afraid of offending
others - they sure don't mind offending us - we have
ceased standing up for what we believe in.

Take a stand and don't be afraid of putting forth your
thoughts and beliefs when others try to shove all this
"politically correctness" down our throats.

Let your voice be heard - make Judges be held accountable -
they are to uphold the laws -NOT MAKE NEW ONES TO FIT THEIR
OWN "POLITICALLY CORRECTNESS."

Send an outcry to those in leadership rolls - subscribe
to one of the news editorials that will tell you what is
going on - (don't hide your head in the sand and say the
news is all bad so I don't want to listen - well you can
see where this "head in the sand" is taking us - STAND
UP FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN.

Well - just a little taste of things to come - I've kept
it built up inside and it will no longer remain there
silent - it is a crying out to be heard.

so instead of putting my first love second - I'm going to
focus on my first love first. - HOPE IS ALIVE. There will

I will not be politically correct - truthfully - I'm
sick of hearing about that. But I will state facts and views
that may rub some of you the wrong way and I do not apologize
for this - we have stood still long enough.

Let this be the "boob" that flashed the world into a
WAKEUP CALL.

AN ALMOST ARTICLE - (I don't like long reads - thought you might

THE GLOW UPON YOUR FACE

The glow is coming from the fact that you have just gotten your web
pages up and you are ready to set the world on fire with your product. We've all been through that same glow.

It is a wonderful feeling and there would be no web pages put up
without that expectation. You've read all the right things to do
according to all the guru's on the net. You've listed and read and
listed again and again. You've covered the FFA (free for all) pages,
free classifieds, written for all the e-zines. Now all that is left
to do is sit back and wait.

The glow grows brighter - you just know you have hit the target of
every marketer on the web. You've covered all the bases. Now you
have slept on it - and you get up and can't wait to get to that
computer to see all the orders you know will be waiting for you.

You open up your e-mail and find you have 150 messages. Alright!!!
We're on the run now. Quickly you open up the e-mails - and one
after the other - the same story - all these people are trying to
sell you something also. They didn't even read your classifieds, all
they wanted was your e-mail address.

What a disappointment - the glow dims a little. This is the game
called Internet Marketing. Lesson number one learned. It's not that
easy.

Now I'm not saying it can't be done. Dig deeper is the answer. You
read every book you can find that tells you how to market on the
Internet. You read that the best thing to do to market your product
is develop an e-zine. You go crazy subscribing to all the e-zines and
your e-mail becomes more and more loaded down with offers. (This is

You realize you need another e-mail account to handle all the offers
coming through now, but you are afraid to delete because there may be
buried treasure in 'them thar e-zines.' So you spend hours reading
and sure enough, you find some buried treasures. You now have a
new direction to move in.

Developing the e-zine is a lot of fun and you search and search for
information that will interest others. You spend days putting the
e-zine together and are very proud of yourself. The disappointments
of the first round you thought was a failure has now developed you
into a much stronger and more knowledgable marketer.

You now place a few paid ads and a few ad swaps and find that there
are really people out there reading your work and interested in your
product. Even though it has not happened overnight. It is a slow and
painstaking process.

You finally get aN order and see that the system works. Now the glow
is back on your face and you go at it even harder. You have just
reached another level of marketing. Each level that you reach that
you feel is a failure will bring you into another level of knowledge
and a more experienced marketer.

I wish it would be as easy as telling you to just follow others
steps - but then you will miss out on the wonderful experience of
life called 'experience.' Nothing can replace that.

Each failure brought to a glowing success will make you stronger and
more determined and soon you will become the guru that is leading
others. But the bottom line will always be

'NEVER GIVE UP.'

the problem. As he was walking away, Rose called after him, "So, what

Many women are afraid of their first mammogram, and even if they
have had them be before, there is fear. But there is no need to
worry.

By taking a few minutes each day for a week precediing the exam, and
doing the following exercises, you will be totally prepared for the
test- and best of all, you can do these simple practice exercises
right in your home.

EXERCISE 1: Open your refrigerator door, and insert one breast
between the door and the main box. Have one of your strongest
friends slam the door shut as hard as possible and lean on the door
for good measure. Hold that position for five seconds.

EXERCISE 2: Visit your garage at 3 AM when the temperature of the
cement is just perfect. Take off all your clothes and lie
comfortably on the floor sideways with one breast wedged under the
rear tire of the car. Ask a friend to slowly back the car up until
your breast is sufficiently flattened and chilled. Switch sides and
repeat for the other breast.

EXERCISE 3: Freeze two metal bookends overnight. Strip to the
waist. Invite a stranger into the room. Have the stranger press the
bookends against either side of your breasts and smash the bookends
together as hard as he/she can. Set an appointment with the stranger
to meet next year to do it again You are now properly prepared!

MENstrual cramps MENtal breakdown MENopause - ever notice how all of
women's problems start with men? And when we have real problems,
it's HISterectomy......

Here's what you do.

1. Place the image where you want it - then single click on "Insert"
from your pull-down menu at the top of your screen. - Now single
click on "Text Box."

2. your clicker will change into a cross. Place your clicker where
you want the text - drag it to make a square about the size you
want the text, release your clicker - now this becomes your text box.

3. Click inside this box - now you can type and format your text.

4. To format the text box (you might want to get rid of the line
that goes around it) place your mouse cursor over the text box and
when your cursor turns into a cross with arrows on the end of it,
press your right mouse button once. In the shortcut menu that
appears, single-click your left mouse button on the <Format Text
Box...> option.

Now your images can talk for you.

Can Sp*am Uncanned -- The Real Story About The New Act

As you may know, President Bush recently signed into law the Can Spam Act of 2003 (Public Law No. 108-187). The purpose of this new law in effect on January 1, 2004, is to cut down on the rising level of unsolicited commercial e-mail.

To do so, it imposes certain requirements for the delivery of commercial email and institutes certain penalties for failing to comply with such requirements. (You can read the new law in its entirety at http://www.spamlaws.com/federal/108s877.html).

There has been a lot of talk, news, rumor, information (including misinformation) and opinion about the effects and implications on legitimate marketers and newsletter publishers of the Can Spam Act (The Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act).

The result of all this attention has been to whip most of us into frenzy, creating an atmosphere of confusion and paranoia.

I WANT TO MAKE TWO VERY IMPORTANT POINTS:

I. The act does not prohibit the sending of non-solicited commercial e-mail.

II. The act only regulates the MANNER OF SENDING non-solicited commercial e-mail.

The most common question people ask me is, if I am a legitimate marketer or newsletter publisher and I e-mail my newsletter, and offers to a list of people who have subscribed; do I need to change any of my practices to conform to the new law?

My answer--- It depends on what you are doing now!

For most of us, the new law should have little or no effect on the way we do business.

That’s because most of us send out our e-mails to people who have asked us to send them. In other words, the person who receives our e-mails has requested that we send e-mails to them.

They may have requested our email from a third party, (for instance when we buy names), through a subscribe box on our web site or any one of several other means by which the recipient of our emails has requested or agreed to receive correspondence from us or on a particular subject.

Therefore, my simple answer is, unless you are sending “Non-Solicited” commercial e-mail to consumers, this act does not apply to you.

Here is how the act defines unsolicited or non-solicited:

Email that is:
· Sent to a person who has not specifically requested to receive communications from the sender and

· with whom the sender does not have a prior business or personal relationship, or

· to a person who has previously requested not to receive communications from the sender (i.e., has opted out).

Here are my recommendations to anyone sending emails in the course of their business.

· Make sure you put an accurate Name and E-mail address in the FROM LINE of your e-mail.

I use my name and not my company name. This way I create a brand in the marketplace. My from line reads “Bruce Safran” My address is, bruce@legalebiz.com.

· Make sure your subject line accurately represents the content of the body of your email.

My subject lines generally inform the recipient of the content of my e-mail. In addition, I will continue to be creative with my subject lines to strive for as high an open to sent ration as possible. To give you an example, some of the subject lines I have used in the past are David, I almost forgot or Judy, IMPORTANT AND URGENT.

· Make sure to include your actual physical mailing address in the body of every e-mail you send.

I will start including my office address at the bottom of every email.

· Make sure you are using and autoresponder service or other email program that has an easy one-click opt-out procedure for people who no longer wish to receive your e-mails.

There are many good services out there. I happen to use 1 Shopping Cart which is a comprehensive Merchant Services and Autoresponder solution.

· Let people know at the beginning of your email, that they are receiving it because they or someone on their behalf subscribed using their address.

· If you are sending unsolicited commercial email, identify it as an advertisement or solicitation in the subject line.

What about “Double Opt-In?”

Many people are now recommending changing to double opt-in when adding new subscribers as protection from the dreaded CAN SPAM ACT.

“Double opt-in” means:
After someone first subscribes you send him or her e-mail requesting he or she click on a link or send you back an email confirming his or her subscription.

IN MY OPINION, THIS IS OVERKILL!

I don’t, and at this time, have no intention to change to double opt-in.

TO RECAP

Every UNSOLICITED COMMERCIAL EMAIL must now contain:

I. An accurate Name and E-mail address in the FROM LINE

II. A subject line accurately representing the content of the body of your email.

III. An actual physical mailing address in the body

IV. A "clear and conspicuous" notice in the SUBJECT LINE that the message is an advertisement or solicitation.

V. An easy opt-out procedure for people who no longer wish to receive your e-mails.

And that folks, is the real story.
